Family Affair Estate Sales is a St. Louis family-owned and operated company, offering estate and moving sales and business inventory liquidations.

Jan Hoff
Family Affair proprietor
Jan has managed hundreds of estate sales with an eye for every detail and contagious enthusiasm.
Years ago, as a shopper in search of unique home decorations, Jan quickly fell in love with the estate sale community and decided to make estate and moving sales her profession.
She’s built a wealth of knowledge and expertise in staging, pricing, and negotiating on her clients’ behalf.
When not managing a sale, Jan is thinking about the next sale…and spending time with her grandkids, working in her garden, or reading a good book.
Bob Hoff
Jack-of-all-trades
Bob was a part-time Family Affair partner until he retired from his day job (and sometimes nights and weekends) as a telephone line repairman.
Now, Bob is a full-time pro, typically taking on the tough assignments in the basement and garage.
He’s no stranger to challenges – or even disasters. After Hurricane Katrina, he spent months in New Orleans, helping to get telephone lines back up and running.
On sale day, we let him have the “easy” job at the check-out table.
When not at an estate sale, Bob is also spending time with the grandkids, golfing, or doing a few home repairs for his favorite mother-in-law.
Bonnie Portell
The one who started it all!
Before there was Pinterest, cooking shows, or HGTV, there was Bonnie, (Mom to Jan and Jan’s five siblings) who made a house a home like no other with her creativity and talent for making a lot out of a little.
Bonnie discovered garage sales and estate sales back in the day… when you could find real vintage real cheap.
She passed on her love for unique finds to the rest of her family. Without her, Family Affair would never have happened, and she remains an integral member of the team.
In her free time, Bonnie spends time with her large family, writes a blog, reads mysteries, bakes pies, and vacations in Florida twice a year.
